It is the right solution when the video shows a pipe that cannot be restored from inside.

If the video shows grease, soft buildup, or roots in an otherwise intact pipe, cleaning may be the next step. Hydro-jetting can remove grease, sludge, scale, and debris from suitable pipe systems, while root-cutting equipment may clear intrusive roots. The line can then be reinspected to confirm that flow has been restored and to look for underlying damage that was hidden by the blockage.
This approach can prevent unnecessary excavation. A blockage does not automatically mean a broken pipe. A home with a single flushed object lodged in the line may need removal without any pipe repair at all.

Location matters as well. A damaged pipe under open lawn is generally simpler to access than one under concrete, a driveway, or a building. Excavation can also make sense when a targeted repair will stop repeat calls. Replacing that damaged section may cost more upfront while providing a more dependable long-term result.
